Australia Science Fiction Foundation
(Awards: the A Bertram Chandler Award)
The Australian Science Fiction Foundation (affectionately known as the Foundation) was formally established in 1976, partially to carry on the work of the 1975 Aussiecon, the first Australian World Science Fiction Convention. The Foundation was the nucleus for the successful Aussiecon II bid and its members worked, along with many others, to run the 1985 Worldcon in Melbourne. In March 1988, the Foundation became an incorporated association. Its main purpose is to sponsor and encourage the creation and appreciation of science fiction in Australia through a variety of activities:
Canverra Science Fiction Society
THE CSFS IS A SCIENCE FICTION SOCIETY, FORMED OFFICIALLY IN 1971. WE ARE A SMALL SOCIAL GROUP THAT ENJOYS AND DISCUSSES SF OF ALL SORTS.
Canberra Speculative Fiction Guild( Writer's association)
The Canberra Speculative Fiction Guild is an incorporated association for Canberra-based creators of speculative fiction – science fiction, fantasy or horror – in any medium. Most of our members are writers of short stories, novels or both.
Our goal is to support and provide development opportunities for our members as they move from aspiring, to published to (fingers crossed) professional makers of spec-fic. Oh, and also, world domination.
